Patricia A. Yingst Scholarship

Description:

Patricia A. Yingst, applied chemistry, 1958, has established this fund in memory of her parents whose support and encouragement made possible not only college, but also a journey of self-discovery through the cultures of Europe. The scholarship benefits undergraduate students in the College of Natural Sciences who seek to promote multicultural cooperation, respect, and understanding and/or to apply their studies to cooperative projects between and among different cultures.

Criteria:

1) Full-time undergraduate student enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences 2) Demonstrate financial need as established by the Office of Student Financial Services of CSU 3) Demonstrate an interest in multicultural cooperation, respect and understanding exhibited by any of the following: experience living and working with an underserved population in the U.S. or abroad; experience providing service to benefit an underserved population in the U.S. or abroad; living in a multi-cultural environment on campus, such as the Global Village; or pursuing a second major or minor in international studies or language 4) Maintain an overall 3.2 GPA 5) Submit an essay that expresses the student's interest in promoting multicultural respect and understanding and the student's related experiences 6) Be a United States citizen (Scholarship may be renewable if the recipient continues to meet the requirements - however, students must reapply each year)
