David E. Fahrney Undergraduate Scholarship in Biochemistry

The David E. Fahrney Undergraduate Scholarship was created through the generosity of Professor Emeritus David Fahrney. Dr. Fahrney created the first departmental undergraduate scholarship specifically for outstanding biochemistry majors and, thus, ensured that his many contributions to CSU and the department of biochemistry and Molecular Biology will be remembered for years to come.

Criteria:

1) Enrolled full-time in either the BS or combined BS/MS degree program with the Department of Biochemistry in the College of Natural Sciences at Colorado State University. 2) Have junior, senior or graduate class level status 3) Bronze & silver level award must have received an A grade in BC 401 (or its current equivalent) and have an overall minimum 3.5 GPA 4) Gold level Received an A grade in both BC 401 and BC 411 (or it current equivalent) and have an overall 3.7 minimum GPA (It is possible that the recipient of the gold scholarship to have been awarded a silver scholarship in his or her junior year) 5) Students shall write a one-page essay on the importance of biochemistry to themselves and society 6) Any student awarded a scholarship who fails to maintain a 3.5 GPA as an undergraduate or a 3.25 as a graduate shall lose the scholarship at the end of the academic year
